Permissions
Permissions control the actions a user can perform on a content item. Policies are used to control access to functions in the administrative interface .
Available permissions
The following permissions can be set on a content item. All permissions can be either allowed or denied , where "deny" take precedence over "allow".
- Read
- Permission to read/display a content item
- Create
- Permission to create child items for the selected content item. Includes the right to upload files and create directories in the file archive.
- Edit
- Permission to edit a content item. Includes the permission to replace a file in the file archive.
- Delete
- Gives the right to delete or move a content item.
- Admin
- Allows the user to set permissions on a content item.
Setting permissions
Select the Tools - Permissions menu item to bring up the permissions for a content item. Click the "Add user" or "Add role" to add a new user or role to the list, then specify which permissions to apply by clicking the icons in the list. To simplify the maintenance of permissions it is recommended to set permissions on roles instead of individual users.
If you select a page or a directory you can choose to apply permissions to the current content item only, to the content item and its descendants or to its descendants only. If you choose to apply permissions on descendants you will be asked if the permissions should replace or merge with any existing permissions.
